Finding Your Crafty Mojo

It happens to the best of us. You are going along just fine, and then bam all the sudden you find it hard to create anything at all.

You want to be able to dive into your crafty supplies, and make something fun but you just can’t seem to find your groove.

I have teamed up with my good friend Pip Todman for another round of Suite Of Possibilities. We hope you are ready for some fun creative projects. I will also be sharing 6 tips with you on how to get your creative Mojo back.

This month we are using the New Horizons Suite of Product which was not my favorite. However once I got started creating I was able to create some great card I wanted to share with you.

Finding Your Crafty Mojo

Because these items were not my favorite, and I didn’t have the stamp set I simply focused on the Pattern Paper. In my video below I share 6 awesome tips to help you get your creative mojo flowing.

Sweet Sunset Card – Tip #1 – Use Less

Keep It Simple! On this card I used 1 sheet of Pattern Paper and a small sentiment. As a card maker I often want to add all the things, and I forget I don’t have to.

This card is beautiful, and it is simple. The very last thing I added was a few simple sequins.

Purple Haze – Tip #2 – Shape Punches or Dies

I love all of the dies and punches we have. The easiest ones to use are any of the shape dies or punches we have. Get these out and play around a little with them.

For this card I used a 2 ½” circle punch to layer on top of my design.

Mountain View – Tip #3 – Add Ribbon & A Big Sentiment

One of my favorite products of all time is Ribbon. When I first found Stampin Up I loved that I could get Ink, Cardstock and Ribbon that all coordinated.

An easy way to add some detail to your card is to add ribbon.

For this card I cut a tiny slit out of the top of the card with my Stampin Up Snips and looped the ribbon through to create this look.

Bonus tip for this card: Use a big sentiment. It create a wonderful focal point for your card.

lakeside View – Tip #4 – Glitter & Add Sentiment to Your Paper

The first thing I did for this card is add my sentiment directly to the pattern paper. I used a large sentiment and nestled it in the space below the mountains.

After adding my sentiment I added glitter to the entire piece of pattern paper. You can do this by using Wink Of Stella or Spray glitter.

Watercolor Ease – Tip #5 – Dip It In Embossing Powder

This was the first card I made when I was creating these cards, and because I was struggling a little bit with the patten paper I got out my embossing powder to add a little pop to my project.

I added embossing powder to the edges by dragging my versa mark ink pad on the edges of the cardstock.

The next thing I did was add embossing powder to the small hearts. I did two layers of embossing powder to create a metal looking embellishment.

Simple Stripes – Tip #6 – Add Strips Of Paper

This is a great tip for using up left over pattern paper, or being able to mix up designs from pattern papers.

You can use any size strips of paper you want. Take a little bit of time and simply play around with this idea. Cut up several different sizes and see what designs you can come up with.

While I this card is my least favorite of all that I made I did end up liking the design I came up with and it sparked several other ideas.
