Getting started With Project Life

Getting started With Project Life

I’ve been a lover of all things memory-keeping for over 20 years.

I fell in love with this hobby when I attended a Creative Memories Party back in my early 20s. I’ve always been a lover of photography, and capturing memories through the lens of a camera. When I attended this get-together with a friend I was fascinated at the ability to take these photos I loved and create something beautiful with the photos I was taking.

I started right away! Creating beautiful “traditional style” layouts. I was at Micheal’s and Joann’s weekly purchasing all the beautiful things to create these pages.

This was amazing, it was creative, and I loved every single moment of it. It was hours I would spend sitting on the living floor with my supplies spread out in front of me putting together these pages. As life got busier, as I got married, and became a mom the list of “Layouts” I wanted to create grew, and my hours in my days shrank.

I never wanted to give up this beautiful hobby that I had found, but I wasn’t sure I could keep up. Then I found Project Life, and everything changed.

Project Life Family Album:

My Favorite Memory-Keeping project of all time, the one that I strive to stay on top of all year long is hands down my Family Project Life Album.

I’ve been doing a FULL Yearly album since 2005. Back then it was just me so it was a personal album. Once I got married in 2006 it became a family album. From Traditional Style Layouts to Pocket Style Layouts and everything in between I have found a simple system that keeps me on track, and “caught up.”

The number one question I get asked, and something you might be wondering yourself is where do I start?

How to get started with Project Life? Here are a few videos I have created to answer the most common questions I get asked.

Project Life Personal Album:

In 2024 I found that I wanted a place to keep stories that didn’t have anything to do with “family” things, and more had to do with me.

I decided to start a Personal Project Life Style album where I could share these stories.

I’m starting with 6×12 Page Protectors. I have no idea if these will end up in an album. Or if I will keep it all held together with rings.

This is a great reminder that you don’t have to have it all figured out when you start. You just need to get started. Things can always change, you can always pivot and change any aspect of the project you are working on. Don’t be afraid to simply dive in and get started.
