Project Life Memory-Keeping Quick & Easy

Over the last few months, I have been so happy to be sharing my progress on my Project Life 2023 Family Album.

Each week we dive into creating pages, adding photos, and even getting creative with our supplies such as stamps.

Today I wanted to start a new mini-series featuring for Project Life Thursday called “Quick Tips”

These “Quick Tips” will help you with different aspects of putting together a Family or Yearly album.

If you have an idea or are struggling with Project Life, let me know in the comments, and I can do a video helping you figure out a solution.

Everyone’s style of crafting is different, along with your Project Life Albums.

However, the techniques, and systems that we can put in place can help make putting an album together less stressful.

The first technique we are going to look at this week is the Hinge Technique which can be as creative or as simple as you would like.

Like most techniques, and ideas that I share, you can always put your own spin on them. I want to share with you the basic ideas to help get you started.

Project Life Memory-Keeping Quick & Easy – The Hinge:

I’m a big believer in not having to have 30 photos of one event to showcase that moment. However, there are times when I desire to feature multiple photos.

In those moments this technique comes in handy. It is such an easy way to add more photos to your Project Life layouts

You can do this in any size pocket page protector you have on hand. I personally like getting my page protectors from Becky Higgins, Ali Edwards or Stampin Up.

The page below features two 3″ x 4″ pockets on top, and only one 4″ x 6″ photo on the bottom.

The only thing you have to take into consideration is where the pocket opens to slide in your hinged photo.

This is a great space to add more photos. You can even hide your journaling, to begin with so it is not front and center in your album.

The possibilities are endless with this technique and I would love to know if you are planning on trying this out in your album.

  1. Hi Katina I used to be in your scrapbooking group but I still watch your videos. I did leave Stampin Up and I joined Creative Memories as I am mostly scrapbooking now. Just wanted to let you know Creative Memories have a product called Peek-a-boo pockets in all sizes. It makes adding additional photos to your layouts so easy and quick.

    • Hi Beverly,
Thanks for letting me know. I haven’t purchased Creative Memories in over 20 years.
I prefer to make them myself simply because I know how and it is one less thing for me to purchase, or run out of in the middle of a project. I also have the fuse tool which makes it easy to make these sort of things.
